Aqua Cooling Limited, has appointed Mike West as Operations Director.

Mike joined Aqua back in 2007, after studying marine engineering at Southampton’s Solent University. He quickly progressed from a Graduate Sales position to Special Projects Engineer, working on larger scale technical process cooling projects across Europe, America, and the Middle East.

In 2015 Aqua won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Innovation for a unique leak prevention system designed for data centre and other critical cooling applications. Mike played a key role in the design, development and roll out of the LPS, which enabled Aqua to establish itself as a cooling specialist within the data centre arena. The LPS went on to gain recognition from the Institute of Physics with an IOP Commendation, as well as winning other industry awards.

Over the years, Mike has helped grow and support Aqua’s Design & Project teams, being actively involved on bespoke cooling systems for clients, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.

“They say time flies when you’re having fun and the last 15 years have gone past very quickly!” explains Mike. “I think by now, temperature control is part of my DNA. I love the technical challenges it throws up and the fact that no one day is the same. This new role will allow me to play an even bigger part in Aqua’s ongoing growth. It is an exciting time for the business, and I am looking forward to seeing where we go next.”

Aqua founder, Simon Davis, comments “Mike has played a significant role in making us the company we are today. His technical knowledge and application expertise is second to none and it has been great seeing his progression over the years. Operations Director is a brand-new role at Aqua and I am delighted to see Mike take on the mantle.”

As Operations Director, Mike takes responsibility for Service, Project, Sales Administration, Health & Safety and Quality.

For some customers, renting equipment on a long-term basis – often referred to as leasing – can be more beneficial than outright purchase. Everyday commodities such as cars and mobile phones are often leased, so why should it be any different when it comes to your temperature control equipment?

Here are some of the advantages that long term hire of your cooling and/or heating equipment can offer:

Aqua have a range of equipment within our rental fleet available for long term hire, including chillers, air handlers, free coolers, boilers and a range of portable air conditioning and heating units. We are also the first UK hire company to include adiabatic units within our product offering.

For more information on long term hire and how it could help your business, call the Aqua team on 0333 004 4433 and select option one for Hire. Alternatively email hire@aquacooling.co.uk.

Aqua have launched a new range of completely packaged chillers. The Aqua Pro units have been specifically designed for process applications and display an impressive array of standard features.

The chillers cover cooling capacities from 1kW to MW+, working with process fluid temperatures from -25°C to +20°C. As well as a process specific design, incorporating an innovative coaxial evaporator, the Aqua Pro demonstrates a real commitment to reducing energy costs and carbon impact.

The Aqua Pro utilises a 0.7mm thick copper coaxial evaporator, with 8mm water pathways. The larger than normal pathways eliminate any risk of blockage and subsequent evaporator damage. Water contamination by debris is all too common within the process industry, so this design feature is a clear benefit. The condenser within the Aqua Pro is 0.4mm thick copper construction, double the industry standard of 0.2mm.

“The Aqua Pro range is here to make a difference to the industry,” explains Aqua Sales Director, Owen Hymers. “We wanted to design a chiller that can stand up to the demands & challenges that the process market faces daily. Yet we also wanted to tackle, head on, the issues around energy consumption and the environment that are impacting us all.”

“Low GWP R454B refrigerant comes as standard, as does completely integrated free cooling. R454B has a GWP rating over 75% lower than R410A, one of the most deployed refrigerants within our industry. R454B achieves a balance between optimal efficiency and performance levels whilst addressing pressing environmental concerns.”

“The Aqua Pro achieves free cooling at higher ambient temperatures than any of its contemporaries. We have helped customers dramatically cut their energy costs by using free cooling – in some cases by 80%. It’s a real game changer, not just for customers but also the environment.”

Aqua hold stock of the Aqua Pro range at their Hampshire based Head Office & Warehouse facility, enabling them to offer next day, UK wide delivery. Units come with a 3-year parts & labour warranty.

All electrical & mechanical parts are available through Aqua, or UK wide stockists, giving customers flexibility of supply and making parts easy to source if needed, rather than being manufacturer specific. The Aqua Pro is highly configurable and able to cope with the most complex requirements. For example, options include special finishing for marine based applications and low noise fans and soundproofing for noise sensitive environments.

Aqua has announced substantial multimillion-pound investment as part of an impressive, large-scale growth plan.

The company has confirmed two new investors, Philip Wilson and Russell Wilson, who join the Board alongside Aqua’s original founders, Kevin Lancaster and Simon Davis.

Philip and Russell bring a plethora of industry experience to Aqua, having both been intrinsically involved in ICS Cool Energy.  Philip Wilson takes on a Non-Executive Director, consultative role, whereas Russell Wilson will be active within the hire side of the business.

Aqua was founded in 2001, focusing primarily on industrial and process cooling across the UK and overseas.  The Service side of the business was formed five years later and Aqua acquired Stadco Cooling from the Stadco Automotive Group in 2010. Aqua won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in 2015, and 2018 saw the launch of their hire division.

As the company celebrates its 20th anniversary, 2021 seemed a pertinent time to make a change, as Simon Davis explains; “Aqua has established itself as a market leader for technically led cooling solutions but Kevin & I recognised we needed capital investment to move to the next level.  We have a great team with an over-arching belief that we can be number one in our industry.  Phil & Russell joining us will be key to delivering that aspiration.  This is such an exciting time for Aqua, I’m really thrilled about where we will go next.”

Initially, the new investment will be directed towards rental equipment, new premises, and personnel, as Russell Wilson comments; “We aim to combine Aqua’s 20-year legacy and reputation with our industry experience, to create something really quite special for the marketplace.  From a hire perspective, Aqua is now positioned to offer customers technical expertise, site-specific hire solutions and a technically innovative fleet of equipment.  Just because a customer hires it shouldn’t mean they have to compromise on the quality of equipment, installation, or technical resource.   Watch this space, we have exciting plans!”

Aqua Group, has appointed Ben Davies as Director of their hire division, Aqua Hire.

Ben has spent over 13 years within the temperature control sector, working within sales and contract engineering roles. For the last 10 years, Ben has specialised within the rental market, joining Aqua from ICS Cool Energy where he oversaw hire activity for the South of England.

Aqua are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and launched their Hire business in 2018, specialising in commercial and industrial applications across the UK. Their range of temperature control rental equipment includes chillers, air conditioning units, boilers, portable heaters, and ancillaries such as fuel management and supply.

Group Director, Kevin Lancaster explains; “Our hire division has gone from strength to strength in a very short space of time and we see Ben’s appointment as key in building on our achievements going forward. His experience and specialist technical knowledge are a real asset and I’m delighted to have him on board.”

“I am really excited about using my industry experience and knowledge to help propel Aqua Hire to the next stage, building on the excellent achievements of the team to date. Together, I’m confident that we can achieve great things during 2021 and beyond”
